Day 6 - Wickenburg to Prescott - 59 miles

miles: 60
temperature:80-95
climbed: 6000'

Today was a piece of cake. It was a great day today compared to yesterday and the day before in the desert with the heat. Very few aches and pains. I guess the training paid off.
This is an awesome way to view this beautiful country God has created. As we rode through the desert yesterday I thought about as dry and as parched as it has been - that is the same as a person without God in their life is barren.

This morning as we rode out of Wickenburg,AZ and headed toward Prescott,AZ we did get into some heat early but as we climbed and I mean REAL CLIMBING that changed and for the most part the temperature was very good to us compared to yesterday. We went through Yavapai Indian country, stopped at the Congress Trading Post as we continued on Rt 89N. We climbed Yarnell Pass and from Skull Valley/Kirkland Jct continued to climb toward Prescott. We encountered "false flats " and for you non cyclist who do not know what false flats are, you think you are ridding on flat road and going downhill when you are actually slightly still climbing. We only had about 4-5 miles of this type of terrain approx 2% grade.
As we rode today the thing that impressed me was how God is a God of variety and the mountains take on a different character than the desert. As we continue our journey we will be able to see how rain makes the difference between life and death in a physical sense just like Jesus makes the diffence in our lives in a spiritual sense.
We did arrive safely in Prescott,Az this afternoon about 2:00 pm. Approx 8 fellow cyclist were not able to do the complete day. Anytime during any given day if a cyclist feels a certain terrain is not for them , they can ride in the van to the next sag stop and then continue on from there.
Tomorrow we will be going to Cottenwood, AZ and should be a much easier ride with less climbing and an awsome descent.

I will update this one also with pictures.

I am touched by the illustrations you have used regarding the weather and conditions to our spiritual lives. There are many such illustrations in the Bible. Blessings to you.

Tom, You need to spice up your stories for those of us who lead boring lives. Forget about the facts, give us some good fiction.
