Day 2 - Portland, Maine to Portsmouth, NH 70 miles

Just the stats: 70 miles, 16.8 MPH average. Started riding at 7:30 am, finished at noon - 4 hours 14 minutes riding time. Sunny, cool with sunny blue sky's, 45 to 68 degrees. Calories burned on the ride - 4,100.
Looks like my training has paid off. I was able to keep up a pretty good speed and ride pace lines on and off all day today. As you can see from the pictures, we were along the Maine coastline most of the day.
Here is a picture of the Bush home in Kennebunkport, it is a huge compound.
Tomorrow we ride to Worchester, MA, a hilly 94 mile trip. I'll be in bed by 9 am tonight and up around 6am.
Thanks for looking.
Tom

You are looking good. I would like to congratulate you on going for a second trip with Tracy. That takes real guts. As you know Jim and I did the Orient Express ride this summer. None of those cushy motels and all you can eat buffets on that trip. I trust that you have your luggage wieght down this time around. I figured that Tracy would never take you back after wieghting her down with an extra 6 pounds. I am sure that it must have broken the axles on that truck of her's.

Have a great ride!

Hi Tom,

At first glance, I think I can recognize four persons from our XC08 tour.

Peter Crowell, NH, who rides a titanium recumbent.

Clark Dexter, NH, was on our staff.

Jim Hall, VA, was on our staff.

Possibly Jim ?(retired surgeon from TX who helped Tracy out during out food poisoning crisis while passing through NM, TX, & OK.

I thought that more from our XC08 were planning on doing the Maine-Florida tour. Maybe they are waiting until next year.

Just mention Bob from Iowa to them.

Best wishes for a great tour!
