All these pictures are from Bear Mountain bridge in NY. We are only about 25 miles from NYC here. Note the hills and the leaves haven't turned yet.
Today was somewhat of a rest day, we even started an hour later at 8:30am, to give us some extra time to recover from yesterday's ride. We rode 54 miles and only three big climbs of 2.1, 3.4 and 2.3 miles. The scenery was definitely better and the route we rode was fun to ride.
For the last three days we have been heading west, over mountains. Yesterday I was thinking to myself as I was riding 95 miles climbing huge three to five mile grades, this was supposed to be an east coast tour, flat along the coast, what's with this going west across Connecticut and New York? I guess we have gone this far inland to avoid Boston and New York City.
Gladly, tomorrow's 76 mile ride to Somerset, NJ will head south and east. After tomorrow morning hills we will be getting into the coastal plain, I am looking forward to the day when our most challenging hill is a bridge overpass, crossing another highway.
Thanks for looking and thanks for the comments. Larry - it will be great to see you. Email me, and give me your number so I can call you.

Tom,
Missed not having a post yesterday and was wondering if you were stranded on one of those long grades. Your long climbing grades are starting to sound like a XC tour. Keep spinning!
Hey, Tom, I finally caught up with you tonight - wow, what a ride! You be careful, bub - no more of those 41s!! We're holding down the home front, and I found out tonight that not only Abby's coming to stay with Amy, but Roxie will be with us too! Yahoo! Look out, Amy..... While you guys are having fun at the beach, I'll be having fun with the girls. I love reading your blogs - keep writing, I'll keep reading, and you.... pedal, pedal, pedal!!!
Hi Anne, I can't thank you and Bob enough for looking out for Yvonne. I'll take a Christian friend over a guardian angel any day. Roxie is nuts, it should be fun. thanks so much. Pedal pedal pedal, I feel the rush of wind. Much love. Tom <><
