Total miles to date - 415 miles
My
Garmin is acting up on me today so I don’t have ride data to give you.
At
37 miles, today can be looked at as a rest day.
Good thing, because it was cloudy with light rain during the last 15
miles. It was cool most of the day,
about 65 degrees.
Today’s
riding was similar to yesterday – rolling hills with some climbs. I rode slower on the wet roads. Going down hills I used my brakes, which I rarely do.
In
the morning we rode fifteen miles to the town of Brantome for our coffee stop. Brantome sits on an island in the River
Dronne connected to the mainland by six small bridges. The town has been
attracting artists and painters for centuries.
There are lots of tourists here.

The highlight of the day was the meal at the hotel we are staying in, called Auberge de la truffe Hotel de la Marie. This is in the heart of mushroom harvesting in France. I bet you would never have thought I would say this - the food is better than great - it's awesome. Every little serving of whatever is amazing. Even ground up olives (there is some fancy French name for that of course) on bread is great. There is not one kind of bread, more like four. They change around knives and forks depending on what you are eating, so they take a fork away and give you another fork.
Chocolate Truffle ummm.
Well it's late and I have been told we have some "cheeky climbs" tomorrow so good night.

You're last photo looks like a Monet painting. Enjoy those mushrooms!
